History aad Chairman's Message

The Development Trust was established immediately after the Golden Jubilee Celebrations to continue the contribution of the Alumni towards the improvement of infrastructure of BMC. The Development Trust is floated by BMC Alumni Association and is given the responsibility of maintaining the Digital Library and Seminar Hall complex and taking up new developmental projects.

Dear alumni of BMC,

Greetings and good wishes from BMC Alumni Association and Development Trust.

Many of you will remember the wonderful time everyone had in December 2005, when we celebrated our alma mater's Golden Jubilee with appropriate pomp and fanfare. We received generous donations from many of our alumni which enabled us to build and dedicate a state-of-the-art digital library and seminar hall to the Bangalore Medical College, its present, past, and future students.

While many alumni donated at the time of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations, many others also wanted to donate after that event and perforce we had to convert the Bangalore Medical College Golden Jubilee Celebrations Committee into Bangalore Medical College Development Trust because a committee set up to celebrate the Golden Jubilee cannot continue to exist after the event.

Ever since it came into being, the BMCDT has continued to work pursuing a one-point programme:

To Improve The Infrastructure Of Bangalore Medical College. In this direction, we have

WI FI enabled the entire BMC Campus and

Established a very modern CLINICAL SKILLS CENTRE, which, like the Digital Library,

is a first among all the Government Medical Colleges in the State of Karnataka. This is the realizing of a MCI recommendation, has been recognised as a CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE by the RAJIV GANDHI UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES, and is being used by many Post Graduates and interns of many other colleges in Karnataka.

We welcome ideas and suggestions from alumni, and also donations, because if we have the finances, we can do much more to improve our alma mater, which in turn will benefit future medical students, not only of BMC but also those from other institutions.

I have to recall and acknowledge the yeomen services rendered by Dr. K.Lakshman in all the activities of our Association and Trust of which he served as the secretary with unbridled enthusiasm and distinction. We are all grateful to him for also conceiving and bringing to life the CLINICAL SKILLS CENTRE. He has handed over the baton to an equally enthusiastic and service minded Dr. Suresh who, I have no doubt will rise to the occasion and fill the shoes of his predecessor with distinction.

It may not be out of place to mention here that our Alumni Association is being held out as a worthy example of excellent work and if we have to continue in this vein, we need all of you to open your hearts and your purses!

Hope to hear from you more often.
